The Application

The Interceptor Secure Laser Cheque Solution is an interface application that provides the ability to help produce cheques by adding the M.I.C.R. line and/or signatures.

It offers a transparent solution for those clients that already own a cheque-producing application, but wish to automatically produce signatures and/or print in M.I.C.R. font, and at the same time, to increase their security.

Efficiency

The Interceptor Solution streamlines the entire cheque production process by automating some of the steps required with other solutions.

The Interceptor Solution intercepts the print file from your existing cheque-producing application, and sends it to the printer after inserting the M.I.C.R. line and/or signatures.

It's that easy.

M.I.C.R. Font

Through the use of the Interceptor Solution, the M.I.C.R. line at the bottom of the cheque can be produced using the EB-13 M.I.C.R font currently used in North American banking.

Since the M.I.C.R. line can be produced by the Interceptor, the need for cheque paper stock pre-printed with a M.I.C.R. line becomes redundant. This can generate cost savings by standardizing on a single cheque paper stock, in some cases.

This also means that the rest of the cheque paper stock can be printed in regular toner - M.I.C.R. toner is only required for the M.I.C.R. line - further reducing cost of the cheque paper stock.

Signatures

Signatures can be optionally printed on the cheque, so that any automatic signing that is required is done in a single pass. In some cases, this can be based on the cheque value using Signature Limit Control.

Security

Industry sources have estimated that cheque fraud costs Canadian business more than $800 million annually, and it's growing.

Fraud is a rapidly growing multi-billion dollar Canadian problem. Over 55% of negotiable document fraud is cheque-related. Document fraud includes:

• Forgery: alterations made to deceive. For example, changing the amount on a cheque.
• Counterfeiting: imitations of reproductions by hand or printing press.
• Copying: machine reproduction. For example, using a colour copier to reproduce a cheque.
